Yeast lives and grows on sugar, especially the refined white sugar used so much in cooking and food processing. You need to avoid these sugars and cut down on the carbohydrates that you eat.
Most fruits and fruit juice are high in natural sugars (although, I'll show you some that aren't), so stay away from them while you're fighting a yeast infection. And no sugary sodas – not even any of the diet sodas, which use sugar substitutes that are just as bad for you.
Keep away from starchy potatoes, beans (and other legumes), and grains which contain sugars and natural yeasts. You'll have to give up breads and pastries for awhile, and stay away from chicken, meat, or fish that's been breaded.
Some nuts are off the diet for now – no munching on pistachios or peanuts until you're clear. And pull all those condiments off the table. No ketchup, mayonnaise, mustard, soy sauce, barbecue sauce on your burgers or steaks. Also, no salad dressing, vinegar, dips, hot sauces, or even pickles. If yeast infection in man is to be beaten, you must be tough.
If you've been watching your cholesterol, strike egg substitutes off the list. That frothy texture is only possible with added sugar. At the same time, avoid butter substitutes – even margarine substitutes.
Any fish that's got a lot of mercury needs to stay off your dinner plate. This goes for tuna and swordfish steaks, shark, salmon, and shellfish. And while you're at it, no mushrooms to garnish your meal.
And when you're cooking, keep hydrogenated oils – like corn oil – out of the frying pan. In fact, don't use it in any of your cooking or dressings. Hydrogenated oils are bad for retaining yeast in your system.
The really bad news is that you have to forgo the cup of coffee in the morning, and the cup of tea at teatime. There are natural yeast enhancers in coffee beans, and also in tea leaves.
So ... what can you eat? In my next post, I'll show you that things are not as bleak as they seem. On your yeast infection diet, you can still enjoy a lot of the good things in life. In fact, with the great regimen provided here, you'll be able to enjoy a lot of things in your yeast infection-free life.
